Your care, your choice

Find a provider.

Explore local providers and discover someone who may be a good fit. Browse local counseling and medication providers by credentials, concerns, and treatment approaches. Age groups, clinical specialties, and treatment approaches are separate filters. Primary specialties become searchable as providers confirm up to five clinical focus areas.

Select up to five clinical focus areas per provider. Age groups and treatment methods are separate and do not count toward the five. Filter activates when providers confirm their choices.
This option includes licensed psychologists and providers with a PsyD doctorate. A PsyD is an academic degree, not proof of psychologist licensure. Confirm current licenses with each provider.
Search named therapies and services (including neurofeedback and TMS). Treatment evidence, qualifications, and availability vary; confirm directly with the provider.
Languages are shown only after providers confirm them. An empty result does not mean no local provider speaks that language.

Important: Insurance, availability and services change. Always confirm directly with the provider before scheduling. Issues addressed currently match published profile information, not verified clinical specialties. Primary specialties will be added after providers confirm their selections. Credentials and approaches shown here are based on published information and should be verified with each provider.

Employee Assistance Programs (EAP)

Some employers may cover a few counseling sessions through an EAP. The previous Steamboat Counseling directory mentioned Alterra / Steamboat Ski Corp, UCHealth / Steamboat Hospital, the U.S. Forest Service, Excel Generating Station, and the City of Steamboat Springs. Ask your HR department about current benefits and participating providers.

Financial assistance through community partners

Some local therapists work with REPS and other nonprofit organizations to help eligible clients access therapy at reduced cost. Funding, eligibility, participating providers, and referral processes vary. Ask a therapist or the nonprofit directly about current options; assistance is not guaranteed. School-referred therapy is a separate program available only through school referrals, not by direct family request.

Sliding scale & self-pay

Some counselors who do not accept insurance may offer adjusted fees based on ability to pay. Others may provide a superbill for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Ask the provider about their options.

Other third-party payors

Coverage may also be available through certain EAPs, employer benefits, TRICARE-related plans, or other third-party programs. Eligibility and participation vary; contact the plan and therapist to confirm.

Information adapted from the original Steamboat Counseling insurance page ↗. Therapist network listings are a draft based on publicly available provider information; missing entries mean not yet confirmed, not necessarily that insurance is declined.

A little guidance goes a long way

Finding the right fit.

Choosing a mental health provider is personal. These three questions can help you get started.

What kind of support do I need?

Use the directory to explore counseling, family or couples work, and psychiatric medication management. A provider can help clarify what services they offer.

Can I afford care?

Ask about your exact insurance plan, out-of-pocket fees, sliding-scale availability, and whether a referral or prior authorization is needed.

Does this feel like a good fit?

Ask about their approach, experience with your concerns, appointment availability, and in-person or telehealth options. It is okay to speak with more than one provider.

This is an independent provider directory, not a booking or emergency service. For immediate crisis support, call or text 988.
